Disaster response

An emergency management specialist has to coordinate disaster response or crisis management activities. Again, you need to work with other staff for this. This task includes ordering evacuations, opening public shelters, and applying needs plans and programs. In this case, you need to move fast as in emergency situations, people cannot wait you for too long. It is the challenging part of the job that you may like.

Training

Besides giving quick response to emergencies, it is your job to give people enough knowledge on how to be ready for disasters. That is why, with other colleagues in the department, you have to design and administer the training so everyone can help themselves and others.
